For many years, CT Women of the UCC’s Eastern District, (most churches east of the CT River) planned a fall retreat. It was a time away from home, family and church responsibilities. Clergy and lay women gathered at a Retreat Center and with an energetic leader studied a specific subject. Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon and a weekend in the fall of the year with a good leader was all that mattered.
When Districts were dissolved several years ago, the State Board took over the job of planning and executing this time away. For a variety of reasons, some women like a one day Retreat, while others like an overnight experience. So, we try to accommodate everyone by alternating.
Our next Retreat will be an over-night from Friday, September 29, 2017, 4:00 p.m. to Saturday, September 30, 2017, 4 p.m. at Silver Lake Conference Center.
“REGAINING OUR CENTERS”
LISTENING FOR THE STILL SMALL VOICE OF LOVE
The Rev. Lee Ireland and The Rev. Cheryl A. Caronna
The Annual Gathering of Connecticut Women of the United Church of Christ takes place yearly, usually in April. A keynote speaker and workshops highlight a day filled with worship, fellowship, election of officers, communion, a delicious lunch, music and a SERRV exhibit for your shopping pleasure! This is also when we recognize women from our many UCC churches who have been nominated by their peers for their outstanding work in the church and the community.
Include the following: Name of woman to be recognized, her address, telephone # and email (if applicable), name of her church (& town), and why you feel she has shown outstanding service to her family, church and community (150 words or less).
We will also need the name & telephone number of the person submitting this nomination.
Please, we ask that only one or two nominations be submitted per church (and don’t be afraid to nominate some of those younger women!)
Grateful for the gifts that ministers share with all of us, Connecticut Women of the United Church of Christ offer clergy women an annual day apart, usually at the beginning of Lent. It is our hope, by providing a few hours “away” for our clergy sisters, that they will feel our love for them and our thanks for all they do in the Connecticut Conference. The day includes worship, music, a catered lunch, and lots of fellowship time. We finish in the early afternoon to respect their busy schedules. The event is held in one of the churches of the CT Conference.
The 2018 WOMEN’S CLERGY EVENT will be held on Tuesday, February 6 (snow date is February 13) at the North Stamford Community Church, 31 Cascade Road, Stamford, CT.
